I have seen 1 TT locally that had an in-dash tv. It was cool and worked well but it doesn't fit that well. A retainer was needed to be used and it looked trashy. U could see screw heads to the sides of the unit. Any1 have a good, clean, setup and what is it?

in my GTI. It's an in-dash Clarion VRX935VD unit with DVD player, Sirius satellite radio, reads MP3 CD-ROMs and you can also add a TV tuner. The screen opens and closes automatically, and the lower part of the faceplate can be removed for security.
Here's the LCD open:

It is indeed illegal to have a video *signal* (i.e. a movie, TV etc) in most states. As a matter of fact, if the car is started while the screen is open, a nice text is displayed stating that "It is illegal to display a video signal in such a manner that the driver has a direct line of sight to the screen" or something similar.
Of course, you're *supposed* to connect a wire from the head unit's "brain box" to the handbrake so that the DVD's (and TV signals I'm assuming) only display when the handbrake is up. BUT there's always a way to go around that.. simple electronics ;-)
