On a short unmarked Southern trail, there's this strange white pyramid on a butte. That's a tomb.
Right, a tomb. The pockmarked white tile pyramid is the resting place of the nation's only seven term governor; Arizona's 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 6th, 7th, 8th and tenth Governor, George Wiley Paul Hunt (1859-1934). The perch of this "colorful Arizona pioneer and statesman" is relatively quiet, and affords great views in all directions. Perhaps we may glimpse a camel, or a giraffe, maybe even an Arabian Oryx, a few Nubian Ibex, and some ostriches. You're right, those animals don't frequent the Arizona wilderness. Actually, from Hunt's tomb we can look South into the sprawling Phoenix Zoo! It's like a safari: There's a Mexican Wolf! There's a goat! And there's a busload of schoolchildren!
