Default Pictures of Bird bike rack installed on TTRQ

Yesterday I was asked to post photos of the bird automotive rack installed on my TTRQ.

Here's the general view.

To anwer a specific question, yes the arms are independently adjustable for height to compensate for a sloped top tube if you have it.

Default View of Receiver

The receiver pipes are welded into a solid mount, and there are long bars that run forward to the car's cross member, triangulating things. They are hard to see under the muffler. The receiver mount is bolted to the car; you have to drill to 3/8" holes.

Default Straps

The straps run from the side of the trunk to the rack, resting on the hard plastic edge of the opening. Trunk lid closes normally.

Default Strap Connection

The straps hook over hard points in the little access doors on the side of the trunk. I added the yellow tap to mark things.

What prevents the rack(w/weight of bike) from hitting your bumber in the event of a hard brake?

Default I didn't show the bungies

After I mount the bike as shown, I loop a short bungy between the front wheel and the frame so the handlbars don't turn enough to let the tire touch the car. A second bungy lashes the inside pedal to the X-shaped brace on the rack which keeps the bike from swaying fore-aft.

That keeps the bike still relative to the rack. The rack itself can't hit the car. It is quite rigid.
