I don't believe K&N air filter would increase power or torque since the air pressure is electronically controlled and limited anyway, but it could reduce the time of response (turbo lag) by facilitating air flow so accelerating the pressure increase when you press the Throttle.
What do you think ?
Any differences 180/225 engines / effect of K&N ?
Reference of K&N for the 225 ?<p>Franck

For the 180 FWD, the Owner's Manual specifically recommends not using an oiled air filter (such as the K&N) with the turbo. After reading a review of the various performance filters available (I'm still looking for the article that discussed this), I chose a Jamex Motorsports filter for this reason and that the article stated that the Jamex produced more additional HP than any other during their tests. Keep in mind the the increase in HP is minimal and that the tests were not conducted on the TT.
My guess is think that cooler, free-er air would be best for optimizing the air intake to the engine. The TT engine compartment gets pretty hot so an outside ducted air source would benefit even with electronic air controls that you mention.
As an aside, increasing the sparkplug gap by .005" give the spark a longer distance to travel before it fires which some say results in a stronger spark (because it has more time to develop) and thus increases HP due to more complete detonation. This is a trick I discovered from several tuning guides.
