This unit is battery operated and I have been very happy with it. Is it as good as the Valentine 1? No way, but it is far cheaper, and I don't have to look at that ugly ashtray or have wires running about. Life is full of compromises, and this is one that I have made. The Solo has saved my butt a number of times, so it is genuinely useful. Still, it is not up to V-1 standards, which pretty much has no peers.

I had a corded Passport but the DAMN cord drove me CRAZY!!!!!! So I traded it in for a CORDLESS SOLO. (almost the same detector, but no cord). I like it, they are correct when they say there is some loss in advanced warning, but I would do anything not to have a cord hanging across the window. I want to get a Valentine One, and wire it in using that flat cable. What do people hook that into? I went to Best Buy and they said thye would put it into the radio, but I am leary about that, since I know if you remove the radio, it will make it non-functional. What other places can you wire it in?
Does the Valentine really work that well? How much warning do you get on the freeway? Cops love me, and I love to drive fast, and thus I NEED a detector, and I would be willing to get the Valentine One, is cost effective ( in terms of really working as well as a lot of people say it does ), and that the cable can be hidden.
Thanks in advance for any and all help you can give me

Take a look at my install. It should give you ideas on how you can install the V1 and hide the wiring.
Sean..

I have since had the removed buttons end cap added to the adapter cap so it looks like the button blank is still there! Most people don't even realize it when the cell is not plugged in.
