Problem with ESP on TT?

I have 2001 TT. Over the last couple of years, sometimes when the car hits a rough pavement, the ESP indicator light would come on by itself (without hitting the ESP button). Once the light is on, hitting the ESP button does not turn it off. Only way to turn it off is to turn off the car.
Recently, the light has come on even during car in idle.
Anyone else with this problem. Should I take it in to Audi before warranty runs out (early August)?

they didn't find any codes for the problem last week when i took it in......and they've since told me that IF/WHEN this happens again, i should drive it to the dealer and leave the car on so they can check to see what the deal is.
i told them to check the ABS and ESP systems physicially to make sure they are ok and they *said* they did...but i dunno if they have.

I went in when they were on the other day, but I was working on autopilot or something and shut the car off. Of course, when he vag-commed it, there was now nothing. I plan on waiting until it comes on and then taking it into the dealer before my warranty is up. I would recommend the same.

longitudinal acceleration sensor or the lateral acceleration sensor. I had one or both of these replaced at some point for the same reason you describe. It won't show up as a fault code unless you catch it while the car is ON.

Dealer has part on order. If you have Vagcom try zeroing the sensor. If you get an error or unable then it's fried

it is happening with less frequency and it seems like it is only after dealer hours now.
Really want it to trip so I can just take it in. Will keep you posted Mr. Revolutionso

...And I know this makes no sense... But it could be the MAF sensor. When it comes unplugged, it will light up the ESP light, and it will go away when the car is restarted and not leave a fault code. So...If your plug or some other part of that circuit is loose, that could happen.
Mine has done this a few times in the past couple of years for no apparent reason. The only thing in common about every time mine has done this is that it was raining each time. The last time it happened, I was able to check the code and it came back with MAF signal too low.
