Default Problems with UK dealer

Millions of problems with my local dealer, but they just did some major work on the car, summarised here (copy of the bill - all under warranty so no cost to me)

0913386SIL - £207.94
Exhaust - £106.34
Dual clip - £15.25
Dualcup - £15.25
5600994RET - £11.52
TMNG chain - £29.27
Adjuster - £243.94
Cover - £16.73
Seals - £4.61

Car only has 35 000 miles on the clock, and is a 2001 model 1.8T 225BHP! And it needs a new timing chain and exhaust (the back and middle boxes, and the pipes)!

Should I be concerned?

BTW if you want to know exactly what the dealer was like check out the linked thread.<ul><li><a href="http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?p=1&amp;f=23&amp;t=137403&amp;h=0">deale rship woes</a></li></ul>

Default 35k miles of use do not justify a new timing belt and exhaust.

More like 60k for the timing belt, as for the exhaust I gave mine to a friend with a 180Q back in '01 and has had no problems whatsoever.

Don't know which dealer you have your car serviced at, but I've spent a year in London and I had bad experience from Audi Sloan Square.

If it's done under warranty, why not go for it?!

Timing CHAIN, not belt.

Default What were they thinking?

This much work on such a new car would concern me regardless of whether it was in warranty or not. Ask the mechanic what he was thinking regarding the problems you were having. He may just be addressing the issues you have with a shotgun approach. If he is, you need a smarter mechanic.
