Default Programming the TT Central Locking Module Codes

Just a followup to my post the other day about the
errors in the tables of codes for programming options
(such as 1-touch unlock) in the TT central locking module.

I recoded my TTRQ the other day to add 1-touch unlock
and remote window control; it works great.
As has been previously mentioned, adding these options
*DOES NOT* affect the window motion safety feature
to prevent crushed arms. I tested with a roll of paper
towels both before and after modification, and it works
correctly in all cases.

The Bentley CDROM factory repair manual does mention
the option for adding auto lock/unlock of the car at
around 15mph, but it doesn't mention any other options.
It says the default codes for Coupe and Roadster are
15884 and 15900 respectively, but my Roadster was 15884
(same as the Coupe). My guess is this is because I have
the manual top (?). If you tranlate the codes to
hexadecimal, they are 3E0C and 3E1C, so there is only
a 1 bit difference between the two - but I don't know
what option this bit controls. If the entire code is
really a bit mask as it appears, it would be interesting
to know what all the bits stand for... anyone know??

Reegarding my previous post, the story is given again below:

In the tables of control module codes listed in the John Stahmann
articles (dated "2000") in the Audiworld Tech section, there are
some math rules given for how to add or delete certain features
from the master code, such as "1-touch unlock of both doors",
"remote control of the windows", etc. The rules are correct,
but then the document gives a lookup table of values for
different option variations (so you don't have to do the math).
Unfortunately 2 of the entries in the table are wrong, in both
the Coupe and Roadster documents; it's more unfortunate because
at least one of the selections is probably a popular one.
(Maybe John can update the document - I sent him email about it;
while he's at it, he can change the title inside the Roadster doc
to say "Roadster" instead of "Coupe". He made a whole family of
docs for different Audi models, so I guess he missed changing
the title... :-)

The values in the 3rd and 4th entries are incorrect, if you apply
the rules defined in the options table.
The values shown are:
Coupe: 15948, 15952
Roadster: 15964, 15968

But the values should be:
Coupe: 15944, 15948
Roadster: 15960, 15964

It looks like he just forget to subtract the "4" that means
"1 touch unlock of both doors" when calculating the value.
If you calculate the value you want by doing the math yourself,
you should come up the with correct answer, but if you tried to
use the values shown in the table of coding variations, you might
end up with unexpected results...

Default Re: 3E0C vs 3E1C ...

The one bit difference here probably relates to the power top. I was reprogramming a roadster a month or so ago and I inadvertently started with a base code of 15884 (Coupe). When I programmed in the new code all the new features worked but the power roof did not. The roof switch was disabled. Realizing the error I reprogrammed with the base code being 15900 and then all the new features AND the roof worked. In the former case the bit was set to 0, in the latter case the bit was set to 1 so it probably is the power top.

Default Re: power-top disable?

the odd thing (to me) is that there would even be an option to disable the power top. some of the other options make some sense (e.g., maybe not everyone wants the horn honk on alarm set), but if you have a power top, why would anyone want to disable this option? I guess you can operate it manually in any case, if the motors fail, etc.
ho hum, just pondering...
