chip soldered to the ECU board. I believe that 02 and later TT's have more memory capacity and can hold at least 2 programs.
The ablility to switch programs was a necessity when I drove to TT West last year. States west of Illinois had no 93 octane gas. Only 91 octane was available.
APR is the EASIEST chip to switch programs. The cruise control stalk can do this on the fly while driving. Takes about 5 seconds to do.
Once you have 93 octane program and Mod Shack stage 3, the next cheapest HP/$ mod is 100 octane chip, IMHO. Why pay $3.80/gal for 93 when 100 octane is $4.99? It's extra HP you can feel. I run it all summer.
