Hi
I am very close to buying an Audi TT roadster.
I have three choices:
2001 TT Roadster Quattro, 52K miles. Car looks clean, drives nicely, overall good condition. $18.9K
2003 TT Roadster Quattro, 18K miles. Very clean car, the only concern that I have is that the front brake rotors shows massive grooving. I have not seen this kind of grooves on a non-tracked car before. $20K
2004 TT Roadster Quattro 3.2 DSG, 44K miles. This one is the nicest out of all three. $28K
I am leaning towards the 2001 car simply because I think I can get a great price on it (it has been for sale at the same dealer for at least 60 days). But I have been reading the forum and it looks like the recommendations seem to be for 2003 or younger cars.
Any advice would be highly appreciated.
Thanks

around the hatch(I shopped/bought a coupe). Consumer reports rates the 2000 and 2003 as "bad" for TTs but... no particular things called out in customer reports.
I bought a 2003 and like it so far. Seems to be a good car(and still under factory warranty for a few more mos so I can shake out any remaining bugs). Just put an exhaust on today(was %#$*&# 101 deg when I installed it but... not too bad:

a little left to tweak.
Overall just comes down to finding the "right" car and what you can realistically pay for it. I wasn't looking for a Blue/Blue TT by any means. This one just snuck up on us, and its d@mn near perfect overall.

For an Audi/VW newbie, can you please clarify what you mean by BEA engine? Is that the engine in the 03? or the VR6?
Thanks

I got my 2001 coupe a few months ago from a private seller for 15k with 24000 miles on her. I'm not complaining, it was the best deal I found at the time (garaged since it was purchased, driven a few thousand miles a year, all service records, clean title, two sets of wheels - brand new winter on stock rims, and summer on aftermarket rims). But, given the opportunity for an 03 with 18k miles for 5k more...well nah, I love my coupe. ![Smile](https://www.audiworld.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
But, yeah, the 03 seems the better choice.
