Default Purchased new MAF ... is it normal to have to "return" the OEM back to dealership?

While out of town, I noticed an Audi Dealership about 1 mile from where I am located right now. Shot over to Continental Audi in Naperville, IL this morinng and picked up a refurb MAF for 78.00. Funny thing... the Parts Department is having me send in my MAF as soon as I replace it...

Thoughts?

Yep. There is a core charge. Part costs like 2x as much if you don't turn in the old one.

not true. "remanufactured" MAF's from the dealer require you to return the used one.
