Purchased new MAF ... is it normal to have to "return" the OEM back to dealership?

Core charge is generally about $30 or so dollars

my dealer had this implemented 3-4 mos. ago. MAF cost $65.

Nope - no problem - they'll take your housing and put a new sensor in and sell it again :-)
