Default I install them at my shop....

I charge $250 bench labor for the install..
That includes steam cleaning the case and washing all the gearstacks.
You also have a $10 speedo ring that has to be replaced. I have a special puller that saves the carrier bearings. You also need a fastener kit that bolts the new LSD to the ring gear.

The total job if the tranny is in the car is about $725
That includes replacing the clutch & flywheel, the rear main seal if the customer wants and the throwout bearing.

If it is a quattro then it costs a little more.. about 100 bench labor and 175 total labor.

Hope this helps.

Default Hmmm, doesn't sound too bad and you can install a beefier clutch and lightweight flywheel while

you're at it.

Why not replace the tranny w/ a Quaife 6 speed as well?

Not a bad read, brings it down to a good level. Most everyone here can/should read it.

Default Have you seen the cost of a Quaife 6-speed?

My little project is already spiraling out of control Maybe after the next market rally (or K-Mart goes to $10)

Default Very Helpful, Thanks Mike. Also ...

could you tell me what clutch and flywheel combos you recommend for the 180 FWD TT's 02J? The clutch seems to be in good shape right now, but it does have 50K miles on it and I'm toying with going all out and doing the clutch anyway since the tranny will be out. With the stage III, the Quaife, and the custom exhaust, I'm already over budget (but hey, that's what defines a budget!), but a big part of me is tempted to do it all now.

Thanks again for the input/help!

3G list I've seen them for as low as 2G's (non racing)
