Default Quattro de Mayo tune up here we come..... after getting my timing belt, torn CV boot, camshaft ...

adjuster and valve cover gaskets replaced, as well as my brake fluid flushed last week, the car was feeling GREAT at 140,000 miles until I stepped on it and it started to stutter at 10 psi or higher boost! FAN-tastic.

This of course happens as all the locals come out of the woodwork with their slammed Golfs, etc at each and every stoplight... And I'm still tooling round on my black steelies with winter tires. Perfect.

Of course my ProDiag was taking half the year off because my archaic palm 100 batteries had died and the system needs a new set of activation keys from VAD as it re-sets it's serial ID each time it goes ka-put, this for the 5th time... So, where's the mis-fire? Is it a mis-fire? F.

As I was at Hans' this past weekend when it was 1st noticed, we checked all the sparks to make sure the IK-22s were gapped correctly.

Unfortunately for me they were. And without his VAG or my ProDiag we were left thinking it was a bad coil pack or 2 on it's way out or maybe a MAf or combo....

Yesterday I swapped the MAF to no avail and called VAD (which bought out ShadeTree/ProDiag) and they quickly obliged with new activation codes for my palm.... only to now have my serial hot sync cable be on the fritz and not connect after the initial connect with the TTs ECU...

So, without fully knowing what is going on, I figured it was high time anyway and ordered a full set of coil packs via ECS AND a new hot sync cable for the Pro Diag via another online source as well....

Neuspeed rear sway is shortly enroute as well....

At least there was some benefit as Hans sprayed down the engine bay the other day with his patented cleaning method and made her shine like never before... it's good for at least 10hp I swear - if I could get it above 10psi!

Next, you'll think I'll actually show up at Quattro de Mayo AND TT East and order a new set of 18" wheels, new Beltronics radar detector and other unmentionionable (cough...Down Pipe) goodies.... hmmm, we shall see.....

Default You need new activation keys everytime your palm batteries die?

Never happens on mine. Hotsyncing or restoring from backup (via backupbuddy) always works.

If you needed a scan I could have met you somewhere or you could have stopped by on the way home.

Default I've got a VAG-Com up here in northern CT if it helps...

East Granby, ~15 min north of Hartford. Always like to get together.

Default I have a newer one.

I've never tried reinstalling the software after a battery dies (is this what you had to do?), but a hotsync always works.

The backup program backs up to an sd card so if it dies on a long trip I can recharge and restore without being screwed.

Default thanks - Hartford is wayyyyy too north for me - Hans is a 2 hour drive. Hartford is much further.

AWE tuning is a hop, skip and jump inside the PA border from me here in western NJ if I were in truly dire straights. But, as the new Palm cable is enroute, I'm sure my connection issues are resolved.... but thanks! I'm sure the new coil packs will solve whatever other stuttering issue I was starting to experience on boost and hopefully won't lead to yet another yet identified issue.... but if so, bring it on.

Yeah, after I wrote it I realized how old a palm 100 is.
