Default Quattro or not to Quattro? Some more thoughts...

If you need it - get it! If you really want it - get it! However, some people feel they must have every option and every new technology even if they don't need it. I call this the 'BELLS AND WHISTLES" syndrome where a 'fully loaded' car is often deemed to be more desirable than one that isn't. Then there's the QUATTRO name - sounds good to the ear and gives an impressive image in its connotation of technological superiority. But to some it's just the image they want.
All the Audi dealers I've visited seem to have only fully optioned Q's available. In placing my factory order for an '00 180 FWD I passed up Quattro - don't need it, and the Bose - a poor value. I would also pass up some other TT features it I could, but they're standard. Cruise control, cup holders, starter motor - who needs it! A simple hand crank will work just as well, and nothing to break, except maybe your wrist.

Default John John John John John hmmmmmm?????

Audi is Quattro. You've just got to understand that. I live in Colorado and nothing else will do. Even on dry pavement, Quattro makes a huge difference that you can truly feel. Go for the Quattro.

Default None of the Haldex bashers seem to have hands-on experience or...

... a grip on "slip" (pun intended). And none of them ever figured why "old quattro" might not be such a good idea on the TT, which has nothing to do with "transverstite" engines. ;-)

In a hurry, must go

Default Funny, you didn't mention test driving both versions. And, it shows in your faulty deduction...drive

the Q, hard. Then, drive the FWD over the same course. Some things in life are self evident. Marius B is right, again, about Haldex. Learn more about this remarkable at the link below.

http://www.haldex-traction.com/</a
