Default Question about effects of Silicon on paint

Anyone here know what effect silicon adhesive (like RT-V stuff) would have on paint? As I recall, there is no ill side effects, except for the fact that wherever the silicon is, the paint would fade at a different rate obviously due to it being covered up by the adhesive. Is this the only thing that would happen, or could this have long-term damaging results to the paint itself? I'm trying to put together a plan for something, and I need to put silicon adhesive on a painted surface of the car, however, it is not paint that is readily visible, so I am not concerned about the outward appearance of the paint, but I don't want a huge hole to be eaten in the area either.

So is the only problem just the difference in fading?
