Question about the ESP button

Any difference in ride would have been your imagination, the TT does not have any sort of adaptive suspension.

It is basically traction control. Overrides throttle & Braking to prevent slippage. Or something like that.

Simple traction control (like ASR) can only correct for wheelspin. ESP monitors additional sensors to detect if the car is following the path intended by the driver (steering wheel sensor, yaw sensor, wheel speed sensor, etc). It can apply the brakes to each corner individually to correct oversteer and understeer conditions.
