Question about oil

Question about oil
I have had my TT (2001 TTC 225hp) only about 3 1/2 months now. I don't put a lot of miles on my car. Yesterday, at about 2200 miles, the oil can symbol with the term "MIN" came on. I stopped the car immediately, and the dipstick indicated that I was definitely low on oil. I put a quart in and the level returned to normal.
My question: Has anyone else had to put oil into their car so early on? Is this normal? Do you think that it may be burning oil or that it was just a little short when it was filled with fluids at the factory?
Many thanks for your insights.

May use a little oil, but may have been low at factory - have dealer check it out underneath
then you might want to consider Mobil 1 in future - 5W-30 in cold climes, 10W-30 in warmer climes.

Re: Question about oil
You always want to check your oil, minimum once a week. I suspect the oil consumption is due to engine break in, it should level out, but as this form will confirm oil consumption can vary greatly!

Re: Question about oil
This is the reply I got from Audi about the "minimum oil" message coming on after 3300 miles and then the "engine service in 300 miles" message after that in my 2002 225bhp TT coupe:
As is advised in the owner's manual, it is always prudent to check the oil level regularly, particularly in the first months of use of the vehicle. A new vehicle will use more oil than one that is thoroughly broken-in, and local conditions (climate, roads, traffic) may
contribute to oil use that is heavier than normal.
Please check with your dealer regarding the warning light so that he can advise you whether it is an indication of something to be dealt with or whether the computer needs to be reset.
Regarding the oil weight, the original fill was 0W-30. This is often difficult to find; you may use 5W-30 or 5W-40, as indicated in the manual.
