Default Question for airbag light gurus

My airbag light acts weird in cold weather... upon startup, it stays on for a minute or so then blinks increasingly rapidly until it fully goes out after a couple of minutes (taking longer to go out the colder the car is).

The airbag module throws NO CODES whatsoever (I have a ProDiag).

Question: Does the lack of codes mean the airbag controller is Ok? Even an intermittent problem should throw a code, right? So this more likely a cluster issue... or a connector-resistance issue in cold weather?

Bonus Question: It happened 2 yrs ago the first winter I had the car but disappeared when the dealer replaced the brake switch; now it's back. Is the brakelight circuit tied into the Airbag startup diagnostics?

Puzzled in Chgo... where it's COLD,
~john

(PS: sorry about the repost but I'm stumped and the car's out of warranty)

Default One uncharacteristically cold GA day....

I got in & started my TT to find the airbag light on solid. It's been on since... Vag-Com indicates no communication with the airbag controller, so I'm assuming it's dead.

Not sure if that has anything to do with your problem, just thought I'd give you the data point.

Default yep, your controller does sound dead; mine doesn't seem to be...

my controller appears Ok, at least insofar as ProDiag connects to it fine and reports no DTCs, not even any intermittent ones. My warning light is simply weird.

Thanks for the data point.
