Are your coilovers stiff as a mother? I love the handling that I have now, but damn, I feel every little bump. I expected stiffness, but maybe not quite this much. Do you think these coilovers will soften up over time?

I know you said originally your shop was only going to lower your car 1/4" inch. But all your pics show a TT thats at least one inch lower and probably closer to 1.5". Part of the beauty of this system and most of your coilover dollars were spent on "adjustability." You might try using some of it.
You want better handling or softer ride? Its all there. And dont think for a minute you wouldnt be able to feel a 1/4", 3/8" or a 1/2" upward travel, or that it wouldn't make "that" much difference. It absolutely does!
Just don't expect Town Car "cush" and Boxster-eater performance simultaneously. They are there to a greater/lesser degree, but at opposite ends of the spring perches threaded collars. You've but to choose. As in all things car-related, its a compromise.

Thanks Mance, I may raise it just a hair. For Bogey, what I mean by bone jarring is that I feel every imperfection in the roadway. Larger bumps/dips, and I'm not necessarily talking big, obvious ones that you can see coming, throw me seemingly off the seat.
Quite obviously, I expected a firmer ride, and the handling is greatly improved, but frankly it's a bit stiffer than I had anticipated. No flames please, just my observations.

yes i can have a much better feel of the road. not bouncy but i think of it as the coilovers always keep constant distant (that i have set) between my car and the road. when i go over big bumps, i was first very scared and thot that would kill my wheels, but it didnt, the coilovers absorbed the big bumps much better than the stock suspension.
I just think that u have a too too low setting, that's it, try raise it abit and see what's up.

Since you can't alter the weight or the spring rate you have to alter the height if you're going to fly over any bumps.
But that defeats the whole purpose of the H&Rs right? I've heard of ppl trying to compensate by using rubber inserts within the coils, by getting wider tyres or by using multiple coils. Maybe some of the guys in the forum have trieds these, if not on the TT then on others cars they own.
http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/AudiWorldPics/2000/minitt.jpg

for the small road irregularities. Often aftermarket and OEM shocks have stiffer rebound damping and relatively soft compression damping in order to preserve some of the soft ride.
However, if you're being tossed of the seat on larger bumps, you are probably hitting the bump stops (effectively bottoming out the suspension).
Coilovers don't increase suspension travel. If you lower the car an inch, you lose 1 inch of compression (bump) travel. As others said, raise it and see if the big tossing motions go away.
Unless you are almost into the bump stops statically, the little bump harshness should not go away.
FWIW, if you make a change, make one big enough that the suspension notices it. If you dropped it 2 inches from stock, raise it half way back for your test.
No free lunches with cars or people.
