On my '01 225QC I have 20K on the original RE040's. All but the RR have about 5K left, but the RR is toast. The wear is very even all around and side to side, but toast nonetheless. They have not ben rotated since 5K. Any ideas on why the one would wear out so much sooner than the rest? Thanks.

Search for Camber posts from AxYerCat, he had some pretty severe wear issues from camber I believe. I'm guessing he's on the way to TTE, so won't be around for a few days.

Tire shop told me that the belts in the tire probably overheated and gave out... not good.

Could have gotten that way if you hit a pot hole or something like that on that corner.
I would get an alignment done right after you get new tires. and be diligent in rotating your tires.
I do mine every 5K miles
