the higher interest rates I'd end up paying. Unlike when I bought my TT used for 1/2 the new cost, these things haven't taken a hit yet. I think it's because people realize what a great value they are.
Of course once I buy it the market will inevitably take a dump.

The good...
It's really quick on the shifts and completely controllable for upshifts and downshifts. It won't let you over-rev the engine.
Shifts are done with complete engine/turbo control. The DV doesn't even operate on shifts so you just pick up where you left off. The boost stays constant through shifts.
F1-like paddles are cool.
The controller anticipates what you're doing with the right foot. Quicker shifts when under hard accelleration, slower when not.
Everyone can drive it! Although everyone in my household knows how to drive a manual, they all prefer the DSG when they have a choice.
It's really built to be driven agressively. Sunday driving and the DSG are not compatible.
The bad...
When cold, the 1-2 shift is too quick in manual mode. In auto mode, the shift is done softly.
Maintenance is expensive. $150 in parts (fluid/filter) to service the DSG each 20K miles. Or 40K for normal usage but who drives normally here?
Everybody wants to drive it, so it's never home when I want to.
When coasting to a stop, the controller downshifts for you (manual or auto) each time slowing you faster than you probably wanted. You can shift into neutral to avoid this, but that defeats why you have it.
This (downshifts) also happens when braking so you get an extra engine braking effect as the downshift occurs. Makes smooth stopping very hard to do.
Take up comes in three distinct modes. It's really good at creeping like an auto. Once the engine RPM matches the creep speed, the clutch is locked and you can take off. Moderate right foot from a stop gets a delay in engagement. Hard right foot spins the front wheels until the traction control kicks in. You get used to it.
The ugly...
Did I say I never get to drive it?

meaning under braking or slowing down. Hell I was in sport mode in a TT 3.2 and slowed to enter a parking lot and it went into first gear!

most are in the low 20s asking... meaning maybe I could get away with 19 if the seller was desperate.
I spoke to another dealer and was offered anything on their lot at invoice. They are trying to get to their next tier for the month.
That means I get a base '09 for about $22K. I can't pass that up!
