After viewing these photos, I'm very curious to put spacers on my stock 17" wheels on the quattro.... but had a few questions:
Will having different sized spacers in front/rear wear the tires any differently? Will having spacers in general affect tire wear in any way?
In a quattro system, will this mess up how the car handles the awd?
If I use 20mm for the rear, what size would go well with that for the front? any suggestions?
Will this potentially cause more noise issues from another layer of potential rattling?
Will I need new wheel bolts to accommodate the spacers?

nor will it affect your quattro negatively. Most here who have spacers do have thinner ones on the front. I have 15mm front and 25mm rears. If I recall correctly, the 15's came with longer lugs and bolt right up. The rears are bolted on, and then the wheels are bolted on to the spacers with a 2nd set of lugs.
Spacers will not cause any rattling. The only downside to spacers is that they could add a negligible amount of understeer.

1a. No, different size spacers don't wear the tires any differently; 1b. No - they don't change camber or toe.
2. No - you aren't changing the 'rolling radius', just the relative location of the offset/wheel center in relation to the centerline of the vehicle.
3. most quattro guys use 25 rear and 15 front; if you use 20 rear, try 12mm front for a similar relationship.
4. There's been discussion - only - on this issue, but never a case that I know about in terms of component wear. Spacers don't rattle and aren't a potential source of noise.
5. Usually. Depends on the spacer - the 25mm style uses the oem bolts, since that spacer bolts directly to the hub with separate bolts (usually supplied). Most narrower ones require longer bolts, since they just slide on between the wheel and the hub, and are secured with the lug bolt.

I have a friend with the FWD version who's also curious, just making sure that the FWD version doesn't have different requirements .....
