Default Questions about system info display via Climate controls

I know I should be beaten for asking this and not researching it myself but here goes... What sort of particularly valueable/useful information can one get from the system info that can be displayed via the climate controls? Since it isn't really convenient to go through those things while driving. I wonder what everyone thinks of the idea of making a digital display block that somehow hooked into the climate control system and would display this information for you at the touch of a button? say a very small LCD display with a few buttons to cycle between whatever information was decided that it would display. What do you guys think about this idea? If it would work it would be much more visually discreet than other gauges and such.
