Default Questions about tire size and tires on the TT~~

I am running stock 5 spoke 17" wheels on my '01 QC (225/45/17). Contemplating Pirelli P6000 All Season tires, but the size available to me is 255/40/17. I did a search and did this calculation~~

Tire Size Comparison

Specification Sidewall Radius Diameter
225/45-17 4.0in 12.5in 25.0in
255/40-17 4.0in 12.5in 25.0in

Circumference Revs/Mile Difference
78.5in 808 0.0%
78.6in 806 0.2%

My questions are: will these 255/40/17's fit my TT? Have any of you run this size tire before? Will they fit on my stock wheels or are they too wide? Will they rub when you turn the wheel? Are Pirelli P6000's any good? Wearability? Tire noise? Traction? Thanks in advance guys. I really appreciate all of your help/advice.

Default Not recommended.....>

255's are too wide for 7.5 inch rims....even though your circumferences are close..

Default ....and they'll rub the crap out of your fenders in front

they're 1.2" wider, which you don't have. they would look SO incredibly puffy it's not even funny. you'd have a real life Hotwheel, where the tires are always off from reality. if you do some research on www.tirerack.com i'm sure you can find a phenominal tire for your needs in an appropriate size.
