Default Most responses you will get here will say Valentine V1, but I've used Passports for many years....

just as good in *most* situations, but if you got nailed with instant-on, well, instant-on is instant-on.

No detector will save you from that.

My Escort/Passports has saved my *** as many times as a more expensive Valentine would have, and I firmly believe the V1 would not have been any better in those situations.
Yes, I've been nailed with instant on, and I've taken my lumps, but a V1 would have been nailed in the same situation.

Default Instan-on Radar. Deadly. Most cop radars will send out the carrier signal for your detector to hear

instant-on is just that. no carrier, .point the gun at you, hit the trigger. instant reading, Instantly nailed, no time to react.
Only way to get around this is to be near an area where they are using it, and you pick up the spurious signals of the cop using it on someone else way before you get into actual range. Your detector will flash/beep on and off in reaction to tell you the instant on is being used.
If you are hit with it, and you see the cop, you are nailed.

Default wanna buy an Escort Solo S2?

I have an extra one, still sealed in the box, never been used, unregistered. It's the same as the 8500, but cordless...uses 2 AA batteries.

I'll take $300 for it, shipping included (US). Retail is $329.95. Email me.

Default Best Buy has better prices than Escort's website

That's where I got my S2 for $319.

Default I have an 8500, if I bought again I'd get a Valentine.

Reason being is both can pick up signals from a pretty long range but on open highway you have to guess whether its coming from behind or ahead of you. With the Valentine you'd know.
