Default Radio Safe Mode

I just changed my battery this morning and now the radio is now in safe mode.
I don't have the code and I know I didn't change it. Any idea what it could be for a 2005 TT Roadster with the Bose? Thanks!

Call your local dealer for the code. In some rare cases the number is written on the actual head unit.

I thought with 05s this wasn't an issue, the radio was simply recognized. Is it the original?

check the manual for the radio, there is a card in there that should have the number on it, also check the spare tire well for a sticker with a number on it.
My car was missing both but I pulled the radio and got the serial number off of it along with my VIN and the dealer gave me the code for free!
He said they only charge if they have to pull the radio themselves.

One dealer said, even if it's in safe mode and you can enter the code, they still have to let the car sit with the radio on for 45 min before they can enter it. I smell BS.

I think that is true. I've read that after an incorrect entry one has to wait one hour before he can try again. My 2001 on the other hand has had the battery disconnected at least twice, once for several days, and the radio has never gone into safe mode.

Took it over to the Audi dealership in Princeton NJ. Nice guys! Got it done in 20min and charged $50. At least there was some eye candy to look at. An R8 and an RS6 convertible that was for sale at a very, very good price. See the RS6 forum for more details. Back to my TT, thanks everyone for their input.

My dealer charged me $50 for the code and I had the serial number. I guess that's why they call them "stealers."

Did they give you the proper code so that the next time you don't have to spend another $50?

I wrote my codes right on top of the radio in both the TT and S6 with a perm. marker so I never have to worry about loosing them.
