Default My reasons for getting a coupe:

1. I stroke in the sun (as opposed to tanning)
2. The coupe is much better looking.
3. The coupe was out (the Roadster was not when i bought).
4. Noise level is less.
5. There is no number 5.

Default I got a roadster because it is a second car & I love it. (more)

I drive a V70R when I need room for dog and stuff. My dog fits at my wife's feet when we are in the roadster and that works well. The heater and seat heaters work well. If they can't keep up then blankets go over the passengers legs. If that doesn't work then the top goes up. I am purchasing flannel lined slacks for work so I can drive the TT all winter with the top down. I love this thing!

I drive skiboats in the summer and really enjoy the similarity between driving a TT and the boat. With a skiboat you can do a 90-degree turn or a 180-degree turn (literally) due to design points of the boat. The TT (like a porsche and the like) handles as close to that as possible. Having no top makes it even more similar.

I figured if I was going to own an impractical car (like a TT) - yes, you all know it, compared to a V70 or an A6 Avant you have to call the TT impractical - you might as well go all the way and get a small trunk and no top.

With the top up the wind-noise is minimal IMHO. With the top down the wind-noise is minimal IMHO. Actually, when I drove a coupe I found that I couldn't hear the engine enough based on what I've been accustomed to. Even with the top up I don't have enough engine noise. I feel disconnected for the driving experience when the top isn't down.

Now, if I lived in Alaska, I might not get a roadster. I might still though!

One of my favorite things to do is drive at night with the top down in the countryside where you can see tons of stars. What a feeling.

So, get a roadster... just don't get a red one. They aren't very interesting. ;-)

Ok, can you tell I miss my TT. It is getting the 5k service and my laundry list taken care of.

I'll have it back on Saturday I hope!!

Default I love choice!

1. I tan instead of burn
2. The coupe does have better lines
3. Sorry about that one
4. That's a plus? ;-)

I love how everyone loves the cars for different reasons. We have to thank Audi for giving us the choice between a coupe and roadster.

Also, I forgot to mention earlier, there is a hardtop option that was just announced in Paris. Eventually I'd assume this part will become available in the US. Sounds like it will help with the noise issue for some...and security. I'm planning on ordering the hardtop for use in the winter and if for some reason the TTR MUST be left at the airport (normally the V70R gets left at the airport).

PS - can you all tell that I just finished working on something big? Why else would I have been so quiet for the past week? ;-)

Default Pros and Cons...

TTRQ has no trunk space.
Coupe has no sunroof option.
TTR shakes more and is noisier.
TTR hardtop may help.
Coupe is faster : less weight.
TTR premium for convertible is less ($3K) than other makes( e.g. $9K for Saab).
Coupe has back seats.
TTR limited options(no 180Q).
Coupe is a hatchback.
TTR is more fun.

Default Depends on how much space you need, but I like the roadster better.

But you really can't go wrong either way

Default Don't forget that the coupe also handles better: the coupe has twice the torsional rigidity, &

the roadster also has softer shocks. Put the xtra weight on those shocks and add a little twist under hard loads, and the coupe's limit is higher.

And, IMHO, the TT interior clashes with the blue sky. ^^^^^

Default the biggest advantage of the coupe is the ability to carry stuff in it...

like two sets of golf clubs (and still have room for your golfing buddy).

can't really go wrong either way.
enjoy!

Zero visibility in a roadster...
