Default Really strange window problem

My driver side window has been acting backwards for about 6 months. Pulling on the switch (which should raise the window) makes it go down. And pushing on it (normally lowering it) will make it go up. Also, when lowering the window (by pulling on the switch), it will only go about 2 inches at a time; so it takes about 6 separate pulls on the switch to completely lower the window. Raising the window (pushing the switch) works properly (even one-touch works). FWIW, both switches that control the passenger window work correctly. The dealer thinks that the motor is bad; even though it will get the window up and down. I've read about the reset procedure but that assumes the switch is working correctly. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Default Sounds more like the switch than the motor, motor seems to work fine.....

the switch controls the direction, maybe some shorted contacts in the switch, crossing the directions.

Default Oops. Sorry I forget to mention..

I don't think the switch is bad because when opening and closing the door, the window no longer does it's little up/down 'dance'. However, the dome light dims during the time that the 'dance' should be happening. I can also hear the window motor stall during the 'dance'; hence a large current draw and the dome light dims. This will also happen if I try to manually close the window when it's fully closed. I appears that the 'dance' is also backwards and that would rule out the switch. Any other ideas to check?

Default Interesting, so when you open the door the window actually tries to go up....

instead of down.

Default Looks like there is a separate window control module (J295) associated with the window motor....

looks like the module actually controls the window direction from the input of the switch. May be the module or motor. I thought the switch may have been more than just a simple switch, but it is, just a switch, closes contacts on up and another set on down.

Yep, that's what it appears to try to do

Default I took apart the window motor....

and it is a very simple motor, worm gear, and driven gear that winds the window cable. However, as part of the motor assembly, there is a goodly amount of electronics. The cable going to the motor assembly has about 15 wires in it (didn't actually count them). So, it appears as though there are some 'smarts' in the motor. Disconnecting it did not fix anything.

Anyone know if the left and right motors are interchangeable? I thought there was a technical reference (or parts list) available on the web, but I can no longer find them.
