Default Rear end rattle list-- I'd like to get a list of where people found their rear end rattles.

For example, my first rear end rattle/clunk was my sway bar end links, after I installed the 19mm swaybar I didn't tighten the upper end of the links enough.

As for my current rattle, I'm pretty much stumped... Which is why I'm looking for ideas.

How do you pull the rear bumper?

Default what shocks do you have?

some people have said the upper shock bolt needs to be tighter or have a washer to space it with aftermarket shocks. I've got one now, more like a clunk, and I assumethis is the reason.

Default Bilsteins, I pulled the upper bolt this past weekend to check to see if it was ok, but it seemed

fine. I've pulled most of the trim out the back, pulled the taillights, driven around with the spare tire cover flipped forward, pulled the wheel well liner out, dropped the exhaust looking for something loose, checked the sway bar, control arms, axles, and brakes looking for loose stuff. The one thing I have found is here in this picture. It was in the frame below the bumper on the passengers side. It's got the VW logo molded into it and it's obvioudly broken off something. I still need to pull the bumper to see if it's supposed to be attached to something. It looks like part of a mount for something, maybe in the bumper.
