I have never actually owned a radar detector, and I could not find this information on the Valentine 1 website, so excuse me while I ask a dumb question:
How does the main unit (mounted on the windshield behind the rearview) get power? Battery? If not, how do you subtly get the power cable to it? Also, how does it talk to the display? Wireless? If not, how do you do it without wires running all over the place?
Probably moot, since I don't know if I want to mount a V1 on my windshield and spend 95% of my time driving in Virginia. I'm almost willing to buy it for the times I'm in MD and on long interstate trips though...
Also - Bill, I have a pic of you and Alex from the Annapolis brunch that I have been meaning to e-mail you. I'm at work now but will try and remember when I get home.

One cord of the phone type plugs into the right side of the V1 and carries the power to the unit as well as the signal back to a connector that taps into the positive (there's also a ground wire). From there an out type phone jack on the connector allows the hook up of a second phone cord that goes to the remote head where the directional arrows and other stuff light up. I'm not an electronics expert as you can tell by this answer but I remember the layout from hooking it up in our New Beetle turbo.

The wiring can be hidden very easily. I did a pretty good job of hiding it when I installed, but the glass repair guys did a great job when they put a new windshield on my TTR.
Thanks in advance for the picture!
