Default Remember my run in with Barney Fife? Here's is the pics....

courtesy of Nudespeed.com

I had a little run in with the park police and this is pictures. The first one is right before he pulled up and started to yell at us. (That's me in the gap sweatshirt)
<img src="http://www.nudespeed.com/nsfpv2/dogs/img/48.jpg"

This after we were told to leave and I started to pull away and he must have noticed I had no front plate.
<img src="http://www.nudespeed.com/nsfpv2/dogs/img/52.jpg"

This is as I was driving past him (notice he is about to make a U-turn)

<img src="http://www.nudespeed.com/nsfpv2/dogs/img/53.jpg"

After he U-turned this is where everyone started screaming RUN!!!!!! I half thought about it but my logical side told me I could be in trouble. This is where he was telling me to repeat his *Mantra* "I WILL have a front plate on when I come back through there" I was arguing with him and he pissed me off (again) and I finally told him I was leaving.

Well after I sped off, he put on his lights and did a Dukes of Hazard cut off move to make me stop cause I wasn't going to.....

Just thought you might get a kick out of this.....

I am going there again today so if you dont hear from me again, I probably got arrested <ul><li><a href="http://www.Nudespeed.com">http://www.Nudespeed.com</a</li></ul>

Default Do what you gotta do, but think of the mentality of the group your dealing with....

People who are into using their appointed authority to inconvenience other citizens often benefit from esculating things to further inconvenience others. This person would probably love to get you to do something where the other boys in blue could get involved and humiliate you. Take a friend with a video camera and tell him your name is Rodney King. Maybe it'll make him think about his career a little.

I think that's unfair. I'm not necessarily sticking up for the officer, but he did have a right to stop the vehicle for no front plate. And driving away was not a good move.

I think that cooperation is best in a situation like this, not confrontation.

Default I'm not picking sides because I was not there...

Just offering $.02 as to how to keep a confrontation from escalating and going bad for a fellow TT owner with a humorous edge.

Default I hear you...

Being an ex-cop, I grow weary of folks dumping on them, or trying to set them up. Most police officers are poorly paid, have an often thankless and dangerous job, and are genuinely concerned about protecting the public at large.

Contrary to popular belief, most officers are also pretty bright. Officers have to be able to think on their feet, and make accurate, fast decisions, often under duress and also under a microscope. They also have to be a very good writer, as much of what the officer does is paperwork. It's fun watching Cops on TV, but what what you don't see are hours of written reports after the fact. Officers also have to constantly face sharp lawyers in court, and they have to be able to hold their own.

I don't like getting tickets (or worse) any more than the next person, but still I think it's important to be generally supportive of law enforcement, rather than trying to tear them down.

Park police? Since when the hell can they pull you over? Aren't they like rent-a cops?

Default I didn't realize front plates were optional in MD...

...and if they aren't, why go looking for trouble (you really don't have a leg to stand on)? What was your argument -- that you don't care for the look? LOL. I don't like inspection stickers in the window, but to drive without one just invites endless hassles. Your beef ought to be with the state legislators -- they're the ones who decided you need two plates. You may not have liked the guy's attitude, but face it, he was in the right. Having a way-cool car doesn't give you a free pass on the motor vehicle code. Why invite trouble? Put the damn plate on and enjoy the ride.

Nice wheels, BTW :-)

Default Yes, I agree with supporting the police....

I have family at many levels in the local P.D. and hear the other side of the fence at parties. The mentality I was referring to was a general sense that if you give them attitude (not that it occurred in this case), then they will find a way to make you respect the law. In general, what I'm told by my relatives is that they look the other way on a lot of things that people think they don't notice, but if they got an attitude than those trivial things become focal points to inspire respect for the law. The other part I gather is that if you cross one, then you cross them all, probably because of the nature of the job and some collective public resentment (kind of a pack mentality). I get let go for speed infractions 8 out of 10 times by being courteous and keeping a get out of jail free card under my driver's license.

Default uuhhh....right :-]

Thanks so much for the dad speech.....

First of all, I was in a public park (watershed)and this guy was way out of control for the situation, If you wanna sit back and be treated like this and say nothing, go ahead, be my guest but a badge does not earn you the right to be abusive

Default Brad...you do realize this was a watershed police officer?????

This guy does not have the right to do what he did or acted....he was not a police officer.

Don't you think this story would have been much different if it was an actual officer.

I think AUJ was pretty spot on with his assessment
