Default Replaced battery; killed instrument cluster

I've read 1,000 threads about dead clusters and having them replaced. Here's my story...

I replaced my dead battery with a nice, new Sears Diehard and the car is running great. however, the entire instrument panel refuses to work. There HAS to be some way to reset the panel. I refuse to believe that TT's are such pieces of junk that simply replacing the battery kills the intstrument panel.
