Default Replacing all four 17" wheels

After finally gouging my fourth 17 inch wheel against San Francisco's famous curbs on my '00 180TTQ I've contemplated changing the wheels to ones that do not protrude like the stock wheels. Could that help? I am honestly quite careful when I park (yes I have to parallel park), but all it takes is one slight miscalculation or protrusion. What is a reasonable price to pay for four new alloy wheels of similar specifications? I actually like the design of the six spoke 2000 models.
