Default Report on trans fluid change FWD

This is a straight forward job. The same engine cover that is removed for an oil change must be removed to change transmission fluid. A 17mm hex key is all you need to remove the drain and fill plugs (Sears $9.00). Two quarts of gear lubricant are needed (measured drained fluid) I used Valvoline GT-5 75w-90 synthetic gear lubricant. The fill plug is located on the front vertical part of the transmission housing. Thus you cannot poor the new fluid in but rather must pump it in somehow. I used a hand held metal oil can pump you can pick up at any auto parts store. Mine only holds about a pint and a half so it takes 15 minutes to get it all in. I want to say this is a two thumbs up as to the results because it seems the car shifts so much better (I never had any gear grind). However I only going to give it one thumb up because of the possible placebo effect; I'll drive the car for another month then report back.
<img SRC="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/AudiWorldPics/2000/JIMTSIGTTFORUM.JPG"BORDER=0>
