Default Cool, this all matches to what I had concluded looking at original DV

My Bailey is in 'backwards' though, guess I'll change it if it ever stops raining out!

Note that when Zoe's engine was reinstalled, the dealer tech but the stock valve in BACKWARDS even now. I guess he knew I'd be taking it out and didn't bother doing it right??

Default Something else to consider regarding backwards installation...

If I'm not mistaken, a spring (of some type) between the piston and the vacuum side of the valve is required to return the piston to the closed position once vacuum is removed and boost is restored (once the throttle plate opens).

The pressure differential (vacuum on one side - boost on the other) applied to the cross sectional area of the piston generates the force that act against this spring and causes the piston to move (thus opening the valve). The less this pressure differential is, the less force will be available to open the valve.

Assembling the valve backwards will reduce this pressure differential and MAY develop a situation where the piston doesn't open all the way (there is not enough force to fully compress the spring). What MAY happen is the valve only partially opens, which reduces it functionality and may cause weird noises (from weird flow patterns).

Something to consider.

Default I agree, it seems that a 180 needs a fitting, some extra hose and a couple of hose clamps to get it

...right. I do intend to install my valve with the boost side acting ON the piston. JIM
<img SRC="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/AudiWorldPics/2000/JIMTSIGTTFORUM.JPG"BORDER=0>

Default Jim...the Bailey valve can be ordered with a 90 deg connector that seems to solve problem...AWE ...

is going to start shipping connector on all the BOed Baileys so can be used with either 180 or 225
