Is it risky to buy a used ECU that has been chipped?

If you have an early 2001 without the immobilizer, and the chipped ECU you are buying is the same (no immobilizer) then it's simply a plug and play swap.

you'll see a small icon in the cluster light up when you start the car. I believe it's a little car shape with a key cutout underneath it. You should be able to find out what ECU part #s have the immobilizer but I don't know which ones do off hand. I know MY2001 225hp coupes that are either T or AT boxes do not have the immobilizer and are compatible, not sure what the 180 TTRs have tho.
