i recant my 40k statement and we will call it 20k for the sake of argument...

Default so they are looking at a BASE 4s vs. Optioned R8. Doesn't seem fair.

apples to apples they should be comparing 9974s Sport to the R8. 4s Sport goes for 120K.

As for GT3, I think that it wouldn't be very bright of a journalist to even put it in the same category as R8. These cars are meant for different purpose. GT3 is a track car, not a luxury sport coupe that should be driven daily.

For the money I think R8 is a great buy. It wouldn't sway a true porsche enthusiast (nothing will) even if it was a much better performer than 9114s. BUT for someone who is into a bit ahem "better" styling, and who is not so attached to the porsche brand, R8 is a very good alternative.

Default Not sure where they are getting 110k for the R8 but i'm hearing it's more like

90k base but options will add up quickly.

Default I thought a C4S started higher than that

it'd still be interesting to compare the C4S price with similar options to the R8, the base price might be close as it is or maybe the R8 interior options would push the price up on the C4S. In any case, performance would be the same with or without the options so the Porsche certainly beats it there. I guess the really overpriced one of the bunch is the Vantage

Default I wouldn't say that, I haven't seen a single negative review on it yet

In fact every article I've read seems to rave about how good it is.

Default I know - mags have had it between 110k and 130k and our inside sources say

90k or thereabouts. I trust George and his contacts :-)

Default hehe....i hear ya....i guess here is my thing>>>

even if the pricepoint is the same....Audi has one thing over the Porsche...design, and some Porsche enthusiasts would say, ney to that.

Time will tell where the R8 will sit....Porsche is established, and really the benchmark for most in the pricepoint category here....

I find it interesting, that porsche continues to outrun/outgun so many still with a flat six...The other two cars compared here are sporting v8's...

If the Audi comes in at 125K with options....at that point, i would be looking at a 997TT...for another 10k..you get a car is a different category alltogether...

I would have liked to see Audi bring the R8 to the market with the V10 from the start in stead of making people wait.

Just my take...

Default good point...the vantage>>>

i think is plagued with low production numbers so the pricing reflects that...

Do not get me wrong John, I think Audi went out of their way to deliver the R8 and compete in the 100K$ segment "supercars"...but if you spend all that time and money, deliver it with the v10 and BEAT your competition....

Of course as a Porsche fan, i would argue that Porsche can get it done with 3.8 liters (6 cyl)vs Audi's 4.2 liters (v8)......;-)

I do like the R8....but for my 100k...i am a porsche guy! now the second 100k, i would say R8!!! ;-)
