Roadster Canopy noise?
I have already put down a deposit but not yet ordered. I am pretty set on the Coupe but I am becoming more interested in the Roadster. I read the LA times article but the one thing I want to know is the noise levels. I rented a convertable Sebring once for a trip and with the top up it had considerable wind noise. How is the noise insulation on the TT and how solid is the canopy?

Re: Roadster Canopy noise?
I'm not an owner yet, so perhaps I have a less biased view. My several roadster test drives have included some time on busy highways with the top up at speeds of up to 1100 MPH specifically to test road noise. Subjectively wind noise is about as loud as my A4 at the same speeds! The top is unlined and I would have thought it to be noisy, but it is surprisingly quiet. Other road sounds, such as trucks, are noisier than in my A4. Now I happen to live in a fairly remote area without lots of traffic, so the sound of other traffic isn't that big of a deal as long as the wind noise is OK. And I think it is.

I personally don't think the noise is that bad, but of course it is not going to be as quite as the coupe. The noise is nothing that I have gotten annoyed with yet. It does seem better than other convertibles I have driven and been in.

Other than an annoying, intermittent rattle, the roof is much quieter than I would have anticipated. I believe this is due to the roof's cupola design, which I read somewhere, gives it a better drag co-efficient than the coupe.
It's not as quiet as a coupe, but the sound levels are extremely reasonable.<p><img src="http://home.san.rr.com/winefinds/1.jpg" border="0">

We have one of each (coupe & roadster) and I don't find my TTR noticably louder than his TTC
I would get whichever you prefer. I don't think the noise factor is something that would be significant enough to make a determination based on. (You can't lose with either one of these cars!)

Re: Roadster Canopy noise?
Thanks for the input. I think I'll get the Coupe right now. Cost is a factor (I'm buying a house too but the car's more important) and I'll wait for the Hardtop model that'll come out someday (fingers crossed).
Thanks Again
