Default My TTR daily driver works great year around in Portland.

My favorite top down driving is on a clear, cold (<40 degrees) morning. I put the top down every chance I get. I love the stares from people who think I'm crazy driving around in the winter with the top down.

Yep. Let them stare - with the seat heaters on and it's very comfortable.

My TTR makes the daily drive a pleasure either top up or down.

Default Great daily driver

with bare minimum luggage space.... then again you are not buying it to haul stuff around.

Default Re: I'm in Seattle too...

The other strong candidate would be a 330ci which is a beautiful car too. I'd really love a 330cic but those things are expensive and depreciate very very slowly.

I've always wanted a convertible but as it was your case before I'm still unconvinced I can live with a soft top for everyday use. I'm going to Europe in a few weeks and I'll research what the availability of the hard top is.

Thanks for the comments everybody!

Default Glass rear window, good headroom... it's a very livable convertible.

Figure about $3500 for a hardtop, plus paint.

I also looked at the 330Ci, and while I loved the performance (I love RWD and the sound of that six cylinder), the interior was underproduced and the car was way overpriced.

I don't think you'll be disappointed with the Roadster as a daily driver. I had a Jeep Cherokee before this, and my TT is far quieter than that ever was.

Default Climate isn't the only factor for a daily driver

The TTR is my daily driver and I love it. Great ride and great gas mileage. HOWEVER, many owners of any model roadster sell their car within a year because they did not consider the impact on their lifestyle. I you had more than one passanger in your present car more than 10% of the time over the past year, you need to seriously consider that limitation. You can't take a group of friends/relatives anywhere.
