Default Rough Idle Start

So I changed my plugs ( NGK - PFR6Q ) as well as changed all 4 coil packs, and coolant temp sensor a few days ago and everyday I have started the car hot or cold engine, I get a rough idle at start for like 5 seconds as if it wants to shut down til I throttle up a bit sometimes.

Whats up with that???

120K miles on the engine, full timing belt service done at like 98K miles

Try plug it into vagcom, and see if any of the cylinders are being misfired.

I just ran two different OBD-II scanners ( V-checker and Actron )....the V-checker is new to me that I got from ECS Tuning a week ago, however the Actron I have been using for years and know that it would display any misfire on any cylinder....upon checking, I found No misfires reported on either OBD-II scanners. No codes either for anything.

My 2001 does that also. Haven't figured out why. When it's cold it always starts but sometimes stumbles for the first 5-10 seconds or so. If I try to rev it slightly I have to press the gas pedal very gently otherwise it will stall

I checked the plugs and was planning on replacing the 5 year old coil packs and temp sensor next weekend.

I am occasionally (about 1 / month) getting a CEL for a rich condition and at different times a ESP problem.

Apparently this may be a MAF problem. It's kind of an involved explanation on how a MAF affects the ESP.

Not sure if this has anything to do with the weird starts though.

Bring it to a garage that can smoke ur hoses... There might be a leak in the hose and causing idling to be rough. It happened to me, one of the lil hose split in half, I forgot the name of the hose. But it wasn't the coil/spark plug or the wiring like I thought it would, also thought it was a failed MAF... but that should give you code as well... So have someone smoke the car out for you that should give u an answer... =)
