Default Sandra tire pressure help guides:

<center><img src="http://www.turnfast.com/tech_handling/handling_images/tire_psi_profile.gif"></center><p>The top tire is properly inflated, the middle is over and the lower is under inflated.

"The manufacturers spec is for ride comfort, to get longer wear, experiment with increasing the pressure slightly." -From:
http://www.craventire.com/clinic.htm

Another site:
http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/geekspeak/Tires.htm

In the end it is up to you to determine the correct tire pressure for your car and your tires, mods etc.

There is no correct answer and the ratings in the gas cap are for the OEM RE040's. Every tire and brand is different. Audi didn't take any other tires into consideration when they made that guide.

I hope this helps.<ul><li><a href="http://www.turnfast.com/tech_handling/handling_pressure.lasso">http://www.turnfast.com/tech_handling/handling_pressure.lasso</a</li></ul>

Default diagrams are good as I've worn treads both ways and they get very expensive to replace.

worst case scenario is you check your tire wear after a period of time and then see how off your settings were and adjust better on the next set or after a rotation.

Default ok, that confirmed what i already thought i knew ...

... though what i don't have a feel for is how many pounds causes #1 pic to turn into #2 or #3.

and i agree that what tire you use makes a difference .. this is reflected in michelin's recommendation that you inflate their 17" high performance tires to 36/33 on the TT.

Default More like 5+ lbs will be the killer. Most folks check tires if they are ....

about going flat. If you monitor and keep them maintained a couple of pounds won't ruin the tire and as Larry said it's a matter of personal ride comfort and handling. If you do find tread is wearing a certain way you can fine tune.

Default That link is pretty good, but parts of it are less than accurate.(edited)

In particular the bit about moving your CG forward or aft by adjusting ride height is misleading.

If you dropped the rear 4 full inches and left the front at stock height you'd shift less than 30 pounds onto the rear of a TT, but only lower the CG about 1-1/2 inches. I don't think a 4 inch rear drop (with stock front height) is very practical.

Lowering is good, but keep in mind that each 1 inch of "rake" only shifts about 7 lbs. on a TT.
An extra 2 gallons of gas will change the cg more.

My $.02

Default don't some newer luxe cars have tire pressure sensors?

my friend said the new bmw m roadster would have individual tire pressure sensors--kewl!

i thought i had read something (on this forum?) about an upcoming Audi that had some kind of tire sensor, but i don't know if it was the same thing.
