Default Boost Machine is a boost controller by design but its purpose is not to do what

Apexi, Greddy and other MBCs do. Its to smooth out the boost delivery and to increase it ever so slightly. The increase of boost can and ideally should be controlled by the ECU, but companies like APR don't always go for the MAX boost thats why we use BM to go slightly above what a chipped ECU would offer. With a BM ECU still controls the boost but BM finises that control. Apexi, Greddy, etc., override control to a point where ECU's impact on boost level is minimal at best.

Default LOL...what do you think one would expect out of an aftermarket boost control...

If all you have are basic bolt on mods???? I never said I wanted boos control abilities for anything specifically, of course with our little K04 turbos you cannot expect much more than a few psi more than what the car tuned to deliver but once again I never specified anything. As for the turbo timer, it prevents oil pooling in the turbo when cooling, coolant running doesnt do, may cool the system down but DOES NOT PREVENT POOLING. And finally as for the Vag Com thing, it is very portable as well and had you actually read my posts instead of just talking you would have saw where I said for a couple hundred bux more I would rather hook up a touchscreen and computer and have all the benifits of Vag Com, GPS, Itunes, and anythng else I could usually do on my laptop.
And once again had you read I never stated I wanted all those things in ScanGauge I said if it could have at least some or even one thing VagCom doesn't offer it would sell me.
At this point I just do not see th value of the ScanGauge

Default I have a touch screen with a carpc setup (GPS, MP3s, VAG-COM, etc).

It was an interesting project to complete, but its far from useful. I've used it a bit after the install but in the last few years I've barely touched it. Its coming out as soon as I get the scan gauge installed and it would come out even if I didn't get the scan gauge. Pooling of oil hasn't been reported as a problem in our cars so I'm not sure why you're trying to address it. Anyhow, you don't see the value in the scan gauge...fine. Perhaps you'll change your mind later on.

Default Hmmm you are the first person I have heard of that owns Vag Com and call it "far from useful"

oh and one more thing, if oil has not been reported as a problem why do people run catch cans? I will tell you why, as a prevention, same reason some people choose to run a turbo timer, no not all cars are going to have an oil issue but once again these little things we do for our cars are to protect them, to prevent things from going wrong.

Default where did I say that? In my post I clearly stated that I thought of Vag-Com as a great tool.

You're really not getting your facts straight. Your thoughts on reasoning behind an oil catch can are far from reality as well. Anyhow, I don't think this conversation is going anywhere. Do what you like.

Default Its not the only portable solution......

VAD Mobile offers the same functionality, such as basic settings, coding, and adpatation as the factory tools. It is also a lot more Audi/VW specific than your precious ScanGauge.

Check it out....

http://www.vadmobile.com</a
