Default schwing, we talked before about maf

i need a 3" ID maf housing and it has to look pretty, what can you work out?

oh, and is it at all possible to have some sort of smooth transition from that 3" maf housing to a 4" turbo inlet?

Default If you're sure that's what you need...>>

I can go up to 3.25 ID with 3.5" OD flanges. Your Turbo Inlet Pipe is 4" ID? never heard of one that big...You'd have to step up the 3.5 to 4" is all. Same price as the 225 ****(in the center, 180 on right). the one on the left is a custom 3.25" ID with 3.5 ends that I built for a big turbo application......Email me!

Default steve, how about this

is this at all possible?

3" ID with 3" or maybe 3.5" OD on the filter side, and a smooth transition to 4" on the turbo inlet side?

or even w/ 3.5" OD on the turbo side, i could get a 4 > 3.5 reducer (silicone) but is that going to mess w/ my air velocity or something like that?

i've been talking with mike phillips and we've been brainstorming some idea's, if you have anything of value i'd appreciate it.

Default Did you read my answer above?

3" ID and 3.5" OD is no problem. 4" is. I can make you a short 4" coupler piece for the TIP, but you'll still need a silicone step-up piece. This may extend the MAF tube length enough so that only a short Clamp on filter could be used though...

WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO USE THIS WITH? The bigger the tube the lower the velocity. You may need some MAF scaling electronics depending on the software being used...10ths of an inch on the ID make a big difference in whether this will work or not BTW. This is why custom software may be required....

(BTW, 3" ID will NOT work on a stock turbo 225 set-up. Too much ID, Not enough G/sec)

Default software is custom unitronic

tuned for 3" ID maf, 630 injectors, etc.

i just need to know the smartest way to transition from the 3" maf to 4" turbo inlet (as i've said) because it's going to be lower velocity, and probably a little turbulence as the air reaches the compressor. i'm basically trying to gather ideas and see what the best route is.

Default Let's be sure we're on the same page...>>

Typically what is referred to as a 3" MAF is the VR6 version (same as 225TT) which is commonly used by tuners on "Big" turbo kits. These are not really 3" inside but 2.75". A 3" ID tube has a 19% larger intake area than a 2.75". This is huge when it comes to Maf signals and airflow velocities...

I really see no benefit to a 4" TIP as the airflow moving through the MAF tube will slow down when it hits the bigger diameter.

FYI

Default yes, we're on the same page >>>

[quote from sean @ unitronic [3" ID with the stock AWP sensor]]

he says 3"ID, and i hope that's what he means.

as for a benefit of going to 4", i know the air is going to slow down, but with a 4" inlet on the compressor of my turbo, i dont have much of a choice.
