Default Here's a pic of the subframe...>

Bolts 3 and 4 hold it all on. As you can see, the entire lower suspension is attached to this part, so it's position relative to the chassis is critical for alignment...

Default Before you spend more $$ for shocks, bushings, etc., IMO you need a competant diagnosis...

of the vehicle suspension and alignment. I would recommend you find an independent shop that really knows the Audi TT in your area, and take it there for a diagnosis of your car's problem.

After a competant diagnosis, then you might decide whether you are going to spend money to fix it. If the problem is not cost effective to repair due to a prior accident, then you might want to trade the vehicle in to Audi for a CPO later model. Only you can decide your cost benefit analysis after you get competant advice on what the problem really is.

Default looks like something is bent

bent strut or control arm... moving the subframe cannot correct that much camber

Default Definitely not>>

You car isn't a body-on-frame design. While it is possible the unibody is tweaked, it is more likely, as Scwhing indicates, that the subframe has shifted on its mounts. Get it to someone familiar with aligning these cars. To do the alignment properly, there are several factory tools necessary.

Default Re: Your problem would seem to be on the left..>>

Steve does that pic relate to my car (FWD) ?
Also, once i get the new struts I will take this car to a better alignment shop that deals with Audi/VW. I took it to Allen Tire Co. and they are probably not very experienced with this car.

Default And you're still driving it from your last post last month? Two words...bent shock!

Same thing happened to my car...very delicate suspension with this car. If you hit something, chances are you are going to bend something. If you take it to any mechanic that is worth his weight in salt in your area, they should tell you exactly what I told you...bent shock.

If I had your car, I would definately not drive it at all. I would have it trailered (use AAA if you have it, it will cost you next to nothing) to a good mechanic, rent a car for a couple of days and sleep well.

Default Oh.....Whoops. FWD, you probably have something .>>>

(rear axle) Bent then. There is no adjustment other than shimming on the rear axle of the FWD. It's done at each wheel to set camber and toe. Sorry if I mislead you. No idea if it can be brought back to spec with shims....Probably a good chance, but you need to get it to someone who knows these cars...
