Default Shipping a TT to the UK.

Does anyone have any idea what it would cost to ship a TT from either Southern California or Philadelphia to the United Kingdom?

Any idea what all is required?

Any idea how long it takes?

Any recommendations for which company to use or not use?

Is it possible to order a US spec TT via a dealer in the US and pick it up in the UK?

Thanks in advance.

My dealer made me sign a form promising that I wouldn't ship my TT out of the country or else be subject to a substantial penalty. I had the impression that the form was required by Audi, at least indirectly due to possible dealer penalties, because of the way Audi distributes cars or some such thing.

Re: If you're in the UK - why not buy in Europe? UK spec RHD 225 TTQ = about £24'500

I shipped a car from Texas to the UK a few years ago. You have to have owned the vehicle in the States for at least 6 month sto avoid "big" import duties. Cost from Houston was approx $1000.
Let me know if you ship from California, I may be doing the same in a years time.

Default I'm in the military and I might be going to UK for training (more)

Because the training is going to be just under a year, the government won't pay to ship a vehicle. I'd rather not make a year's worth of payments while the car just sits around back in California. Plus, I'd like some sort of transportation while I'm there. Once the training is complete, I'll return to the US.

Buying the car in the UK is NOT an option. I am not going to sell or permanently register the car in the UK. It is going to be registered in the US and be a US spec car.

I'm number 2 on my dealer's list for a 225 TTQ Roadster. I'd really rather not give that up just yet. I won't find out for certain whether I'm going to the UK until early-mid February. I also don't want to wait another year until I can drive a TT.
