Default Should I have my dealer put The Protector finish protector on my new TT?

I just returned from the dealer -- just bought an '03 225 TT. My salesperson is recommending The Protector finish sealant/protector, a $670 option. Does anyone have experience with this product?

no - it's a total rip-off. Better spend a fraction of that money on some good detailing products.

Default No...if you really want to protect your car, for about the same amount or less, you could have

clear bra applied.

Have a "clearbra" product installed instead for the same money!

I just had the same experience (in the UK). I just took delivery of an '03 225 TT Coupe and was badgered to agree to paying extra for the extra protector finish. I had a brilliant black A3 before (without protector finish) and had no problems with the paintwork. It's totally wrong that dealers can be allowed (and encouraged) to rip off customers for such a product on a car that supposedly has one of the best paintworks on the market. Needless to say I didn't agree to pay for the extra finish.

Default I wonder if the UK dealers learned this trick from the US, or vice versa...

...I love when you tell them you don't want it, and they say 'well, this car already has the protector finish'....uh huh, prove it! Then the price suddenly drops from $600 to $300. Total BS...

Default Just Say No! >>>

In fact, tell them that if the paint finish is really that lousy, maybe you should reconsider whether to get a different car.
