Default Sideview mirror replacement

I want to replace the stock sideview mirrors with the "blind spot" euromirrors. I have the mirrors in hand, but can see no way to replace them without breaking something. The shop mechanic at Audi said to tip the mirror all the way forward until you can see the attachments on the back. It just doesn't go that far forward. Is there a trick?
Help.

Default Yeah, don't do it. The Euro mirros suk IMO. Like Wilt Chamberlain said in his auto-bio-->

"Give me an honest mirror."

It's impossible to get honest mirrors. The bureaucrats have won on this one...........

Default If I can do it...you can do it!

Euro mirrors were my very first mod many moons ago! And since then I've also got winter floor mats! Anyway, I'm working on the mods.

But the mirrors are so easy to put in. Don't be afriad to use a little force. There are fout snaps that hold the mirror into place. I think I started by gripping the inside of the mirror (side closest to each door) and pulled. Two snaps came undone, then I grabbed the outside part of the mirror and did the other two. Disconnect the wire. Then reverse the process and you're all set.

They took a bit of getting used to, made me crosseyed at first, but that goes away. I love the mirrors! (and my floor mats)

Default Instructions and tips here >>

Here's the text version from the Audi TT club: With a blanket over the opened door (window down) using the mirror control, manuever the mirror to point to the maximum skyward position. Using a duct tape wrapped putty knife (to soften the putty knife) insert the putty knife into the resulting slot below the mirror and lightly pry the mirror out of its housing. At no time do you want hard metal to contact the glass, and you do want a wide area of contact on the glass to leverage the putty knife. A bright light to see just exactly where you need to pry might help. Also, its best to do this only when you have the new mirror in your hand so you can see exactly how the snap-in holder arrangement works and see where its located (there are four snaps). Pop the snaps out one at a time. Remove the electrical defrost connections. Install the new one. Reconnect the electric defrost connections. Put some wax, light grease or oil onto the snaps to help the snaps engage without breaking. Position the mirror in place using the light and using gentle steady ever increasing pressure of your thumb over each of the four snaps, or perhaps the heel of your hand (wide bearing area), snap the mirror into place.

And there are instructions with pics from Stratmosphere in this link:

Cl ick here for Stratmosphere's instructions

Default Alan!! Good to see you (even if I'm not really seeing you)!!

My dealership was kind enough to install mine for me at no charge when I took the car in for the 20K service.

How ya been? How's the lady doin'?

Default I had my dealer do it and the tech actually pulled them off by hand.

He had the touch.

Put 'em on... they're good!

Get the armrest. You won't believe what it does for the driving position. It's that good.
