Smooth vs. slotted vs. drilled rotors. Your actual experience please?

I've read the positive reasons for drilled and slotted but what about the negatives? Anyone with any personal experience? The three negatives I have read are:
1. Slots and holes act like cutters and cause pads to wear faster than using smooth rotors.
2. Holes can cause rotor cracks.
3. Neither slots or holes make any significant difference unless you take the car to a track so they are a waste of money unless you just like the look.

I had normal stock rotors, they work fine of course. I swapped them for Zimmermann cross drilled and found that they improved wet braking, much less brake lag in heavy rain than the stock smooth surfaces. Plus they looked cool
Cracking is not going to be a problem unless it's tracked heavily.
I've got slotted on my Stoptechs now mainly because I couldn't get drilled Stoptech rotors that would match the rear ECS rotors, and yes that would have bothered me. So now they're slotted all the way around. Hard to tell any difference in the slotted vs the drilled since these are much larger now but I think the drilled were better in the rain. Oh, and the drilled does look cooler

I've used them all. Went from stock to Zimmerman cross-drilled, then changed to ECS slotted. Think I preferred the cross-drilled when it's raining. Put about 10k miles on them, then pulled them off when I put on my StopTechs, which are cross-drilled. Haven't really been in the rain with them yet, so no report on that.
The ECSs (plated) and stainless front lines could use a new home if anyone wants to email...

They're available from many vendors and they're all pretty much the same price and spec. If I remember I'll post the source but for some reason it has fallen out of my head. Sorry.
