So any idea where the sunlight sensor is for the driver info display?

I think its on either the front or the back of the rear-view mirror.

Default See my earlier post but ....

...there is thinking that the display brightness is controlled by a sunlight sensor somewhere.

Default There's a sunlight sensor in the center louvered section of the dash...

<center><img src="http://catalog.exist.ru/pic/parts/VAG17304.gif"></center><p>but it might only be for the HVAC unit, check it out and let us know (I'm to lazy to walk to the car). Sensor is 3A on pic.

Default That would explain why it goes wacky when the sun is near the horizon!

I guess the sunlight can't get between the louvres when it is infront or behind but can when it's off to one side.

They really should have put it in the instrument panel (at least for the dimmer, maybe the HVAC is okay where it is)

It increases brightness of gauges in daylight, and speeds up the fan to keep cabin temp comfortable.

Really? Because, man, when the sun is out I can barely read the display. Maybe mine isn't working
